What is your role at Berger HR Solutions, and what does it involve?
As Director of Consulting Services at Berger HR Solutions, I lead a team of consultants in delivering strategic HR support that empowers our clients to build strong, people-centered workplaces. I work directly with clients to help them navigate complex HR challenges, offering tailored guidance that aligns with their goals and values. Behind the scenes, I coordinate with our consultants to ensure seamless connections between clients and experts, making sure every engagement delivers the highest level of service and insight.
What experience do you bring to your role?
In my early career, I was a business owner myself, learning firsthand some of the unique challenges employers face. Before joining Berger HR Solutions in 2019, I spent over 15 years in the financial services industry, working in both Retail Banking and Human Resources. As a Branch Manager at M&T Bank, I partnered with a diverse range of business owners to strengthen their financial foundations. Later, as Vice President and HR Business Partner Manager, I led a team of HR professionals as well as worked directly with senior leadership to enhance their teams’ performance through strategic communication, training, recognition, and performance management. These experiences continue to shape my consulting approach today, allowing me to bring practical, people-focused solutions to every client engagement.
How has your past experience shaped your approach to HR consulting?
Collaborating with organizations of all sizes and across diverse industries has given me a broad perspective on the evolving demands of today’s workplaces. This experience has reinforced the importance of designing HR strategies that are tailored to the distinct culture and goals of each organization. I focus on helping leaders unlock the full potential of their teams by fostering open communication, building trust, and developing programs that drive growth, engagement, and long-term success.
What areas of HR are you most passionate about?
I believe strong communication is at the heart of effective HR. I work with clients to strengthen how they engage with their teams throughout the entire employee lifecycle—from attracting and onboarding top talent to delivering meaningful coaching, managing performance, and driving employee development and engagement. My goal is to help organizations build a culture where communication supports clarity, connection, and long-term success.
What’s your educational background?
I hold a bachelor’s degree in music from Columbia College, where I developed a strong foundation in creativity, discipline, and collaboration, skills that continue to influence my approach to leadership and consulting. My background in the arts has shaped my ability to think creatively, listen deeply, and connect with people in meaningful ways, qualities that are essential in building strong workplace cultures and effective HR strategies.
Who do you enjoy spending time with outside of work, and where do you call home?
I live near Charleston, West Virginia with my two teenage daughters and my 98-pound Labradoodle, Boomer. My girls and I share a love for the arts – and shopping of course!
What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
Most people are surprised to learn that I studied music, with a focus in vocal performance, in college! My time on stage helped shape my confidence and communication strategies, lending to a creative foundation that has helped me bring a unique perspective to my work in HR.
What do you value outside of work?
I sing with and serve on the board of a large 75+ member community chorus, which allows me to stay connected to my musical roots while also building connections in the community.
